Real Time Safety Model for Pedestrian Red-Light Running at Signalized Intersections in China

چکیده
The traditional way to evaluate pedestrian safety is a reactive approach using the data at an aggregate level. objective of this study develop real-time models for red-light running signal cycle level traffic data. Traffic 464 cycles during 16 h were collected eight crosswalks on two intersections in city Nanjing, China. Various developed based different combination explanatory variables Bayesian Poisson-lognormal (PLN) model. estimation Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation utilized estimates. models’ comparison results show that model incorporated exposure, pedestrians’ characteristics and crossing maneuver, control crosswalk design outperforms exposure characteristics, maneuver. result indicates including more could improve fit. volume, ratio males, pedestrians phone talking, waiting time, green ratio, type, length are statistically significantly associated with running. findings from be useful evaluation as well optimization.

Quasi-induced Exposure Method for Pedestrian Safety at Signalized Intersections
To investigate pedestrian exposure when only pedestrian-crash data are available, the quasi-induced exposure method is used to identify the factors that contributed to pedestrian-vehicle crashes in Las Vegas from 2004 to 2008. The results show that overall crash severity, light conditions and weather conditions are potentially risky factors in pedestrian crashes, and the time of day or day of t...
متن کاملDevelopment of a red-light running violation index model for signalized intersections
The installation of Red-Light Cameras (RLCs) is often based on frequencies of Red Light Violations at signalized intersections. Since frequencies could be influenced by geometrical features of intersecting roadways and overall vehicular volumes (or exposure) there is doubt about their appropriateness in making decisions regarding the installation of RLCs. Inappropriate installation could result...

متن کاملEstimating Pedestrian Volumes and Crashes at Urban Signalized Intersections
Crash prediction models are used to estimate the number of crashes using a set of explanatory variables. The highway safety community has used modeling techniques to predict vehicle-to-vehicle crashes for decades. Specifically, generalized linear models (GLMs) are commonly used because they can model non-linear count data such as motor vehicle crashes. Regression models such as the Poisson, Zer...
